blow out
: to extinguish by a gust
: to damage severely

:photographic term for when too much light is let in during the exposure and the resulting highlights are rendered as pure white.
Blonde Blow Out began as an experiment. I photographed my mother playing the role of a blonde in front of a Kodak yellow studio backdrop. Knowing that a copy of a copy leads to degradation, I wondered how making a photograph of a photographic print would result in a loss of quality and detail. I repeated this act continuously, producing the same results promised by anti-aging serums and moisturizers. Does her image become more “beautiful” as it fades? And at what point is she erased entirely?
